SENIOR ARCHITECT: Hoehler + alSalmy Architects & Engineers,  Muscat 2022-present

Milenko is a sought-after consulting architect in the project design delivery, statutory approvals,  and construction supervision phases.  The continued relationship with the financial sector resulted in the opening of the new HSBC Bank Oman office and retail facility.  Provided are the services of the detailing, supervision, and approval of project documents to ensure the global standards are satisfied in all project phases.

Currently supervising the completion of the renovation of the second-floor suite, diplomatic academy building, and the auditorium of Oman’s Foreign Ministry in Muscat.

Concept design of the Awan Properties commercial development in Muscat, Seeb; delivered in a two-stage report and a handover to the project development team.

• Detailed design, specification approval by the global team, tendering, and supervision phases for the Vehicle Service Reception within the main BMW car showroom in Muscat.

Renovation execution of the Duke’s, hospitality project within the IHG Crowne Plaza Hotel in Qurum, Muscat.

• Writing of the project methodologies and preparation of the company profile documents.

SENIOR ARCHITECT: Centre Point Engineering Consultancy, Muscat 2019-2022

Milenko successfully applied the new HSBC global standards of both the workplace and retail spaces in the Sultanate of Oman.  He had completed on time and on budget, the 2.600 m2 HSBC Project Connect building located in downtown Muscat. As an architect in charge of the design management, supervision, and document approvals; Milenko pays close attention to detail and quality control of architectural, and interior finish production.  He generates detailed 3D models and visualizations; all in coordination with the clients’ design changes and ensures details are implemented according to the approved design and within the budget.

Lead design architect on a 2,000 m2 mixed-use program and feasibility studies of a private clinic, located in downtown Muscat.  Defined the owner’s program requirements and led the project team from the concept to the project's design development phase.  In coordination with the client, all statutory approvals were submitted on time for further review.

• Working closely with clients in providing fast-track detailed 3D modeling services, feasibility studies, and interior and building designs that align with both, owner and regulatory requirements.

Performing duties of site architect tasked with construction and management of a 4,000 m2 VIP villa project and a budget of 10 million $ US in Muscat, Oman.  Site supervision and coordination of civil and interior design work.  Also tasked with the material procurement management on local, regional, and international markets.

PROJECT INTERIOR ARCHITECT:

• The interior design of a 10.000m2 ‘Single Location – Multiple Destinations’ hotel in Dubai. Project design, from concept design to 3D visualization, and construction documents. Responsible for client relations, presentations, design development, and preparation of detailed construction documents.

• Architectural and interior design for the adaptive reuse project of Karim Hotel & Spa in Beirut, Lebanon. Project lead in planning, interior design, and landscape design on a 40-acre site.

The New Folk Art Museum in central Mongolia Concept design. Responsible for client relations, planning, 3D visualization, and gallery fit-out for display of private art collection.

Design development of Blok 11a 20.000 m2 apartment building in New Belgrade for a group of investors.  Concept design through hand sketches, 3D and 2D drawings. Design of building façade and apartment units with an underground parking garage, within a dense urban context.

PROJECT ARCHITECT AND SUPERVISION: Institute for Historic Preservation, Belgrade, Serbia 2009-2011

• Design team. Site and building surveys of heritage sites and buildings. On-site instrument measuring, hand sketching, and documentation of buildings and structural systems.

• Prepared computer 3D models and 2D drawing documents of the existing condition of buildings.

• Responsible for designs and construction documents used in the conservation of historic monuments.

• Supervised disassembly, reconstruction, and conservation work on the 19th. century houses and historic wine cellar complex in Serbia.

PROJECT DESIGNER: Swanke Hayden Connell Architects, New York City, NY 2008-2009

• Design team. Coordinating BIM (Revit) modeling for Abu Dhabi Plaza, an 88-storey high-rise development project in Astana, Kazakhstan. Computer 3D modeling, and 2D drawing from SD, through the DD phase for the above-mentioned project.

• Drawing material and renderings for designs and office marketing purposes.

• Prepared the design, presentation drawings, and board layout for a design competition entry for retail and 500 key hotel towers in Nanjing, China.

PROJECT DESIGNER: Cannon Design, Buffalo and New York City, NY 2004-2007

• Developed and prepared design sketches.

• Design team. Prepared CAD drawings of building exterior as plans, sections, elevations, and details.

Teaching

ADJUNCT ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: Scientific College of Design, Muscat, Oman.

Capstone Design Studio - Model-making Studio - Architectural Graphics elective, 2015-2019

Milenko delivered the ID capstone studio curriculum to a group of 15 students and developed a unique course pedagogy, by allowing students to work with actual clients.

Successfully instituted a medium-size model-making workshop by commissioning laser-cutting, and 3D printing facilities for the college.

In addition to the formal curriculum, Milenko created a  seminar class for drawing and graphic communication for students who want to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in drawing, 3D modeling, rendering, and graphic design.

As an active design community member, Milenko initiated additional projects, in parallel to full-time class delivery and administrative tasks:  Such activities are planned as group projects that link the local and regional stakeholders with the academia.

• Fully rendered architectural designs for the Sultanate’s space at Al Jenadriyah cultural fairgrounds in Saudi Arabia.  The project occupies a site of 4,000m2 in the area and was designed and brought to the construction document phase.  The further design was developed with the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Oman and approved at each stage by His Excellency, the Minister.

• Fabrication of a model-making project for the Ministry of Heritage and Culture of Oman, Bait Al Maqham large scale model and curated exhibition presented to students, faculty, and ministry representatives.

• Curated exhibits of student projects at the Bait Al Zubair Museum in Muscat, Oman.

• Member of the college committee responsible for coordinating the administrative work of the institutional academic accreditation process.

• Participated in the annual Interior Design Forum as a guest exhibitor and lecturer.

• Design competition organizer for the Creative Center in be’ah Oman, an environmental protection and waste management company in Muscat.

• The organizer of the visitation and lecture event in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Muscat during the celebration of the Italian Design Week.
